aww  A Subject that doesn't merit the " Tragic Hero " protagonist or less than noble ? An Inspirational Theme that

permeates the Book Series ? Have that certain affinity for a particular ASOIAF character or family ?

Stuff you've wondered about and if others are too ?

Go ahead, name your subject or theme, commoner, lord or lady, gal or guy . Pick your choice ! Who's first ?

According to Wiki-ASOIAF -Westereros, "Jojen Reed nearly died of Greywater Fever. When at his lowest he
was visited by a Three-Eyed-Crow that gave him the gift of Greensight, causing him to experience
Prophetic Dreams. One such dream involved a chained wolf that the 3 eyed crow was trying to free from a
chain. When Jojen told his father about the dream, lord Howland sent him and his sister Meera to Winterfell."

As most Cranog people are short and lean , these two travel light and armed with 3 pronged spears and net.

My recollection of Jojen and Meera Reed was during " A Clash of King's " during the Harvest Feast that was
held at Winterfell. At this point, Robb Stark was campaigning with Northern Bannermen away from the
castle. Even so many remaining Northern families and travelled as customed to celebrate late year harvest.
This also became an occasion to pledge support for Robb, now that he became lord paramount of Winterfell
and King of the North.

A very mature Jojen approaches Bran much later to confront him as a counselor would, understanding the
burden of frightful and misunderstood dreams. Since Bran had only the skeptical maester Luwin as
counsel thus far, he was mistrustful of Jojen's belief and insight to understanding them. After sharing
with Bran his own dreams of Winterfell's future, he then urges Bran to " open his third eye " to free
himself.

After the sack of Winterfell and maester Luwin's warnings, Jojen and Meera accompany Bran and Summer
and Hodor in a Northernly direction. The journey is arduous and challenging but sister Meera proved
skillful at fishing and foraging and camp was made in suitable cover. This journey continued through
" A Storm of Swords " and " A Dance With Dragons " where Jojen and his sister encounter Samwell
Tarly, Gilly with her baby and Coldhands. From there they journey beyond the Wall to reach the abode
of the 3 Eyed Crow. Jojen has grown weak and may have dreamt his own death but perseveres the
journey to deliver Bran to the 3 eyed crow and learn who the seer is.

Some argue that the role of Jojen and his self sufficient sister remain minor as they prove to be non
tragic or travel as companions. The Reeds have always played a favorable role in the life of the Starks.
Ned fought with ser Howland Reed during Robert's campaign against House Targaryeon and now with
Bran's future. Indeed it was Jojen's dream of warning of soon to occur events at Winterfell that better
prepared Bran for their flight. The Reeds resourcefulness coupled with Jojen's insight, guided the
small group through his ongoing dreams. Bran also allowed himself to evolve more as a Warg and link
with Summer during his foraging and discoveries. Jojen and Meera's future continue alongside Bran
for the moment and resume in " The Winds of Winter ". Many predict the end of their story there but
that's up to George ( GRRM ) to confirm. Likely too we will hear more of their valiant father.

Wildseed, do you mind if we merge this thread with Aegon's? he renamed his own to include the not so tragic characters, and nw it seems we have two topics with the same purpose.

Where is it ? This one was up for a while now. I did notice a renamed " Tragic and Otherwise  " but seem to be the same

one started some time ago by Aegon the Conqueror , aptly named " Tragic Figures of ASOIAF " ( before the change).

I added another Topic within that thread just recently too.

Consolidation is always a great idea as the Category shows similarity, so I'm very much in support of that . Can

you message me where it can be found, as I've searched a bit already and only found the " Tragic " topic. Thanks.

I would appear that Essays should be put in another area of the Forum. I will add no more here.

I see that the Tragic Characters has undergone another name change to include " Essays ". I will
follow suit and revise this forum to what it was intended, only a better choice of Title.

Just trying to keep abreast of the revisions and deletions going on.

Non Protagonist and Inspirational Themes.....hope this works out.

If interest in the topic grows, I will add : " Edd Tollett"  , then  " Life as a Feudal Lord "...

On Hold until the Forum Revisions were made, and interest shows. I've been sitting on them.

I also have Cate Stark for the other forum topic, not so certain about posting it tho.

I thought the idea was to make one thread per character/theme from now on, to facilitate locating topics later on? Those topics sound great. I would just start a thread for each, WS.

This Topic , created some time ago, was an exact opposite of " Tragic Figures of Ice and Fire " which has
undergone a few name changes. As the intent here was to create discussion of general lesser or inspirational
( lighter ) aspects of the books. As the first topic evolved, so did this one, it was also hidden and unnoticed.

The precedent set to create Separate Topic Subjects , Per Character, is a somewhat New endeavor ( and
well deserved ). Those have been regularly attended. This has always a general discussion but certain
individuals or groups or calmer aspects of the book may be included here.

I have been monitoring this topic as separate topics would overlap with this area. In spite of the intent,
the demand may be to do away with General Discussion and create a Separate one for each and every
single thing. If that's the new rule , this topic will probably disappear.

Sorry it took me so long to get here, Lady Wildseed.  Loved it.  Always wondered about him being sick/ill and couldn't figure out what was behind it.  Thank you for all the time put into this.  It looks like it took a lot of research and you have such a flair for writing so well. biggrin
