While I have to admit I am a bit jaded as I am a big fan of Natalie Dormer.

The character of Margeary always intruiged me, I love how she keeps on swimming in the seas infested with sharks.

Like Varys says: "The big fish eat the little fish, and I just keep on paddling." She seems to do the same.

I never thought that she was what she seemed from the outside, a meek girl with a lucky streak that always makes her come out unscathed.

I am happy that the Tv version explores this matter, the anti-Cersei it seems. The woman chose this life, and plays it skillfully.

What do you guys think?

My dad said she sounded like a huuuge gay guy, "I don't want to be a queen...I want to be THE queen." LOL!

Aegon, your dad is a genius.

I don´t think she chose that life. She was brought up only for that life. And she is ok with it. She probably enjoy it too. I don´t like Natalie Dormer, at all. In the books Margaery is more subtle and indecipherable. I think the show took away the intrigue of this character (exactly the same they did with LF), perhaps with the sole purpose to create a powerful enemy for Cersei (which is not exactly bad but kinda boring) and a partner in crime for LF.

I'n not a fan of Natalie Dormer either, and I find it a little annoying they're pushing the Anne Boleyn angle - they just seem so similar. Then again I'm not that invested in what happens at King's Landing in general, at least until Jaime gets there. Her scenes with the Queen of Thorns should be pretty good though.

That´s what I mean. Olenna (is her name no?) is her master "at arms" if you know what I mean. "A chip off the old block"?

In my mind tv Margaery and book Margaery are two different people, and I'm ok with that. So far, I've enjoyed both. But then again, I was never too attached to book Margaery. I suppose the lack of POV made me never feel close enough to care too much.

I think the show's made a conscious decision from the start that they could only keep a couple of characters shrouded in mystery. And their decision so far seems to have been: varys + melisandre in, littlefinger + margaery out. Perhaps they sought to hyphen the contrast between Varys and Littlefinger by making the later more obviously villanous so that we side with Varys. In Margaery's case, I also think the reason was to provide a formidable oponent for a cat fight with Cersei. Which should make for really good TV for seasons to come. They want us to envision her as Cersei's nemesis, not Sansa's, from the get go. At the start of this season I was convinced that they've done it this way as well in order not to have to cast Olenna, but it seems I was wrong in that.

ETA: TV Roose Bolton seems mysterious enough as well so far, doesn't he?

I know it must be a joke there but I'm not sure if I get it. (block for guy eh?) .If i´m right, I´m sure she´s heading (secretly of course)

Yes,  luckily Roose is very mysterious.

What I meant is if people here think she's going to be executed after the trial.

I agree 100%. I suggested this at WiC too, when the writing for LF was brought into discussion. I think they looked at the two characters and felt like they would be perceived as being too similar by the TV audience, hence LF gets to be more obvious. I personally like both the writing and his portrayal. It's not top notch, but I don't mind the changes to his character. I had no problems with his brothel scene in S1 and I even liked his scene with Catelyn in S2 - mostly because of the acting, I think Aidan Gillen and Michelle Fairley make a good pair on screen. Yes, LF was totally without tact and came off looking like an idiot, but I think this will look better in retrospect when we get to his scenes with Sansa and Lysa later on. I think it's good that we had the possibility to see just how much he still desired Catlyn, we had a glimpse in S1 but now it should be even more poignant.

Yes, making Margaery more obvious in her actions makes sense if you look at it from this angle. I don't mind the fact they changed her character at all, when I mentioned the Anne Boleyn approach I was referring to Natalie Dormer's acting, which I feel is exactly the same as in The Tudors. That might change once we see her in more scenes this coming season, though.

PS: Not so sure she'll get executed. GRRM might play against our expectations (we already know FrankenGregor will be Cersei's champion and he seems unbeatable). We should look at Margaery's part in the series - what was/is her role in all of this? If she dies and Cersei is redeemed, then we're back to square one. What changes? Yes, the Tyrells will break the alliance but we were heading there anyway. I don't know, I think Margaery still has some other part to play.

Cersei would LOVE that, but I dunno, surely she has to have a better purpose than just being a thorn (HA!) in Cersei's side.

I hadn't thought of that. Prevailing thought would say "no" but then again, nobody expected Ned to lose his head either.

My ideas on Margeary are not on really about Margeary at all. They of course of the queen of thorns. We all know that she is doing everything in her power to restore the Targaryens to power. She might just be old enough to remember he family bending the knee to the dragons, forsaking the Gardeners, their liege lords. I also think that she has a deep seated hatred for all things Lannister. She doesn't even use their gold. But she might be my favorite character in the books. She reminds me of my own grammy, but deadly.

I was not fond of book Margaery.  I like HBO Margaery.  Also looking forward to Queen of Thorns.  Loved her in the book.  I don't like in the book how Margaery was taking on Cersei.  I can't see a young woman from High Garden taking her on.  Dany maybe, but not Margaery.  There had to be more to her than that.  I think someone outside her own House was backing her.  I just don't know who. confuse

Probably the queen of Thorns. That's probably the reason they aged up tv margeary so much. BTW it doesn't look like Mace Tyrrel made it to the party.

Maybe he'll show up next season, for Tommen's wedding. He becomes more relevant around and after that event.
