Memorable Songs in Movies (Spoilers)

Seeing that most of us here are music and movie fans, I figured I would combine the two. This thread is to post scenes in a movie that was highlighted or was enchanced by music.

I have many favorite scenes where this occurs in many different movies. I will start with probably my all time favorites. Movie: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly by Sergio Leone. Music: The Ecstasy of Gold by Ennio Morricone. This song takes plave near the very end of the film. Tuco escapes (so he thinks) from Blondie and runs around the graveyard looking for the tombstone that holds the treasure that they have been searching for for most of the film. Tuco knows he has very limited time to find the gold, yet there are hundreds of markers to search. His frantic running and searching, mixed with Leone swirling the camera around, and the female vocalizing to the music is one of my favorite scenes ever. But it is the song, that truly captivates me.

waterdancerGood Idea Ry. The first one that comes to mind is from the film "The Crow" starring Brandon Lee. I don`t know the name of the band or track, but It really enhanced he main fight scene in the bad guys lair. ....Great film overall by the way. Must watch it again soon.

Since I'm on a Skyfall kick, one of my favs from movies I do in karaoke is "Nobody Does it Better" from Spy Who Loved Me.  Also love "Up Where We Belong" from Officer and a Gentleman.

One of the first movies I saw where a song really made a dramatic impact on the scene was "Perfect Day " by Lou Reed in Trainspotting. Its when Ewan McGregor ODs on Heroin. I was floored by the whole thing and I can not listen to that song without thinking of that scene.

I have many but I can´t find the scenes.hmm

Like Garden State. This movie has some great songs by Imogen Heap (Frou Frou) and Cat Power. Well, Cat Power has many great songs in movies. Got o find those.

Aaaaaaaand the final scene from: Fellini 8 1/2, (the sound is horrible) of course. Some Nino Rota.

One of my favorites is from Wong Kar Wai's In the Mood for Love. It's set in Hong Kong in the 60s and there is this 2 minute scene where the two main protagonists pass each other on their way to the local noodle shop and back. It's very simple and beautifully captured (in slow motion here) and accompanied by what I think to be a mixture of violin, cello and bass. The entire soundtrack composed by Shigeru Umebayashi blows my mind. Music to cut your wrists, like we say here. Here is a link.

Last of the Mohicans has to be one of my favorite sound tracks of all time ...
Gladiator ...
Lord of the Rings ... several tracks there , I even have Harry Potter theme on my phone and it still makes me tingle when I hear it.
Muse from several Twilight movies ... in fact the soundtrack of Twilight ... some fantastic songs...
Stand by me ...
But there is one piece of music that has driven me insane for nearly 20 years ... it's Le vie en rose ... it was used in a movie and I can feel my self sobbing but I can not for the life of me remember what the movie was!! ...
Carl Simon's Coming around again is the same ..

One day I will see the movie and I'll be .. "That's it!!!" and die happy Ha ha !

The Royl Tenebaums. The scene when Luke Wilson waits to pick up Gywenth Paltrow. He hasnt seen her in years and as soon as she steps off the bus, Nico's "These Days" plays. Perfect moment.

"Coming Home" with Jane Fonda and Jon Voigt. Near the end when Bruce Dern goes into the ocean. Tim Buckley's "Once I was" plays. This is probably my favorite Tim Buckley song and when I heard it in this scene I was so moved. I love this film.

How about that scene from Gladiator at the end "I will see you again, but not yet...not yet." and then Lisa Gerrard's voice comes through with such beauty and grace.

The scene at the end of The King's Speech, when Beethoven's 7th symphony comes in. I love that second movement, LOVE it.

Another Royal Tenebaums reference. The scene when Luke Wilson starts shaving his head and beard and ends up slicing his wrists while Elliot Smith's "Needle in the Hay" plays...

Sister Christian in Boogie Nights. They are trying to rip off the drug dealer while the little Chinese guys is lighting fire crackers in the background. Still makes me jump in my seat when I watch it.

Thats a good one Amster. Most of the songs in the movie really amp up the scene. Like when Scotty first sees Dirk and "I Believe in Miracles, where ya from You Sexy Thing" plays. Love it.

How about in Happy Gilmore where he thinks it's his girlfriend, but then it's an old Chinese lady and the song blasts out "Till the night closes in!"

From one of the top 10 soundtracks ever:

The 80's rocked harder than any other decade. Excellent movie as well. There's some Madonna in there for you slow dancers.

One of my favourite movies and a great song :

And my dad used to listen to this record a lot, fortunately we didn't understand english at home... I discovered Miller as a teenage and this song has always been related to my readings :
